How to Layer Skincare Products

One of the most frequent questions we get when it comes to skincare is “In what order do I use these?” It can be confusing, especially given all of the different products most of us have on our shelves - creams, oils, serums, cleansers, toners, exfoliants…the list goes on and on! Don’t worry, we’re here to help sort it out.
🌺 Step 1: Cleanser
Removing oil, dirt and makeup from your skin is of utmost importance! We recommend washing your face with a gentle, effective cleanser twice per day. Our African Red Tea Cleansing Treatment is hydrating and packed with antioxidants.
🌺 Step 2: Serum
Serums are highly concentrated blends that offer a shot of nutrients directly to your skin. Our Skin Infusion Vital Serum is calming and soothing and is recommended for acne-prone, aging and sensitive skin. Skin Infusion Quench Serum is made to combat dry, dull skin while plumping fine lines.
🌺 Step 3: Eye Cream
At this point in your routine, dab your eye cream around your eyes using your ring finger. Eye creams are typically lighter than other moisturizers, and this is a good time to target that sensitive area. Our Eye-Luminate brightens, de-puffs, firms and softens fine lines.
🌺 Step 4: Moisturizer
The rule of thumb is to use lighter moisturizers first, then heavier creams. Our Essential Day Cream is great for hydrating, firming and lifting the skin AND it contains an organic SPF made from cinnamon leaves! If you have a heavier cream to apply as well, such as our Vitamin Sea SPF 28, or our TEN Night Cream, do so after the lighter cream absorbs into the skin. Vitamin Sea contains 20% zinc oxide, as well an antioxidants like turmeric, Vitamin C and E. Remember to ALWAYS wear sunscreen!
🌺 Step 5: Oil
Think of beauty oil as sealing in all the good stuff you put on prior to this step. As a general rule, oils can penetrate creams, but the opposite is not true. Our Organic Golden Beauty Oil contains 15 organic and wildcrafted botanical oils and extracts. In addition to being an antioxidant powerhouse, it acts as a protective shield against free radicals.
By applying beauty oil as the last step in your skincare routine, you can count on a dewy, youthful glow and the PERFECT canvas for applying your makeup!
